Vestra Hosting documentation
Everything you need to order a game server, find your way around the panel and get help when something goes wrong.
Getting Started
EssentialVestra Hosting runs game servers, voice servers and bots on a Calagopus control panel. Getting a server running takes four steps.
Ordering a Server
Servers are ordered and paid for in billing at billing.vestra.systems.
- Pick a plan. Tiny, Starter, Pro or Enterprise. The plans and what each includes are listed under Limits & storage and on the homepage. Not sure which fits? The suggested plans page has starting points for common setups.
- Choose a location. Falkenstein or Nuremberg, both in Germany. See Choosing a location.
- Choose your game. Pick the game or app the server should run. See Supported games for the full list.
- Configure and pay. Review the options for your order, then pay through Stripe. Prices are in GBP and billed monthly.
- Automatic setup. Once payment goes through, your server is set up automatically. When it's ready it appears in the panel.
- • Check the requirements for your game, mods and expected player count
- • Check whether you need backups. They are included on Pro and Enterprise only
- • If you need a database, plan to use an external one. Databases are not included in plans
Choosing a Location
You choose where your server runs when you order.
Both locations are in Germany, so they are best suited to players in and around Europe, and either one is a sensible choice for most communities. If you're unsure, ask in support before ordering.
Logging into the Panel
You manage your server from the panel at dash.vestra.systems.
Sign in with Vestra Passport, your Vestra account. You can manage your account at My Vestra. After signing in, open your server from the list to reach its console, files, backups and settings.
If your server isn't listed yet, it may still be setting up. If it still hasn't appeared after a while, contact support with the email address you ordered with.
Files & SFTP
Edit configs and upload maps, mods and plugins in the browser or with an SFTP client.
The panel's Files page lets you browse, edit, upload and download files directly in your browser. It's the quickest option for small changes like editing a config file.
For large uploads, or for downloading a full copy of your server, use SFTP with a client such as FileZilla or WinSCP. Your SFTP connection details (address, port and username) are shown in the server's Settings page in the panel. Use the details exactly as shown there.
Console & Startup
Start, stop and watch your server, and change how it launches.
Start, stop and restart your server, watch its live output and send commands. When something goes wrong, the first error in the console is usually the most useful clue.
View the startup command and change the variables your game exposes, such as version, map or tokens. Restart the server after changing them so they take effect.
Backups
Per planHow many backups you can keep depends on your plan.
| Plan | Backups |
|---|---|
| Tiny | None |
| Starter | None |
| Pro | 1 |
| Enterprise | 3 |
On Pro and Enterprise, create and manage backups from the panel's Backups page. If you've used your allowance, delete an old backup before creating a new one.
On Tiny and Starter, or whenever you want an extra copy, download your files over SFTP before making big changes. It's also a good habit to keep your own copy of anything important.
Ports
Every server gets one port.
Games that need more than one port get the extra ports they need automatically. These are:
Your server's address and port are shown in the panel. Players connect using that address and port.
Limits & Storage
Each plan has fixed CPU, memory and storage limits.
| Plan | Price | CPU | Memory | Storage | Backups |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Tiny | £1.99/mo | 0.5 vCore | 2GB DDR4 | 15GB SSD (+£1 per 10GB) | None |
| Starter | £4.99/mo | 1 vCore | 3GB DDR4 | 30GB SSD (+£1 per 10GB) | None |
| Pro | £9.99/mo | 2 vCores | 6GB DDR4 | 40GB SSD (+£1 per 10GB) | 1 |
| Enterprise | £19.99/mo | 3 vCores | 12GB DDR4 | 100GB SSD | 3 |
Enterprise also includes KVM Acceleration. Tiny's network speed is up to 500Mbps.
Storage add-ons: on Tiny, Starter and Pro you can add storage at £1 per 10GB.
Databases: no databases are included in any plan. If your game or bot needs one, use an external database and keep its credentials private.
Your server can't use more than its plan's limits. If it regularly runs out of memory or storage, clear out old files first, then contact support about a larger plan.
Renewal & Cancellation
Plans are billed monthly in GBP and renew automatically until you cancel.
